An Exclusive Look: Raiza Poquiz

A0 A1

Yay! I’ve been so excited to announce my first “Blog Series”. I’ve always been so curious to see the desks of the people I follow on Instagram, or what they usually have in their bag. I would try to imagine, is their work area neat, messy, or where do they buy their things from, etc.? Do you feel the same? So I decided to ask them if I could get a closer look at their workspaces, and have them answer some personal questions. So stay tuned because every week, I will be featuring someone new!

And to kick start my first Blog Series, here’s a closer look at licensed interior designer and lifestyle blogger Raiza Poquiz’s desk and what she usually has in her bag. Such a difference from her fashionista and awesome fierce look on her Instagram feed, she welcomed my sister and I without any make-up and dressed in her casual clothes. And I have to admit we just kept laughing throughout the shoot, and in-between questions, we would divert and talk about something else. I hope you enjoy reading!

Laptop, pens, paper, candles, decor, framed art

Mostly for functional purposes, the decor just helps keep me feel organized, in a way. Tons of desk accessories can be found in Typo or Fully Booked. My gold photo frames, I got them from Crate & Barrel but H&M Home has similar ones in the same gold finish.

Wallet – it has everything in it!

Makeup – I always need to look presentable to clients

Perfume – Need to smell fresh and clean

Powerbank – Everyone needs extra battery life

Earphones – I use it during long Uber rides or while working, I like to work in a controlled noise

Camera – Mostly for taking photos during events and for IG posts

Candy – As breath mints or when I’m hungry, haha

My  name is Raiza Poquiz, and I am a licensed interior designer and blogger.

How would you describe your room’s design style? I kind of wanted it to be eclectic, but clean.

Where do you get your inspiration from when you decorate and furnish your room? Mostly online. I love seeing other people’s work and trying to incorporate that with mine.

What is a home to you? A home is where you just want to go at the end of the day, and feel comfortable in.

What object is your most prized possession? If it’s something material, it would definitely have to be my laptop cause it has my life in it, my work and social media. But time is also very valuable to me.

Is there a particular item or something about your home that has an interesting story? My chair since it came from our exhibit, and people would always just ask what is it? I actually designed it since we needed a golden hand chair, but we could find one, so we had it made. And I never wanted to sell it after.

I always make it a point to….clean my room.

Describe a typical day in your life. I wake up, check emails, continue work, find something to post on Instagram, go to an event (sometimes two events in one day), meetings and photoshoot.

Why did you choose your profession? I think I’ve always had a passion for interior design. I knew I always wanted to take up design. Blogging for me is a way to share what I create, so it’s more of a platform to getting and sharing inspiration.

What does your perfect day look like? A perfect day would have to start with breakfast in bed, go to the salon and have my hair done, go furniture shopping, meet my friends and watch a movie, and have dinner and drinks.

What is your dream job, and why? It would have to be, being an interior designer, which I am currently doing. I like waking up and knowing that I can create beautiful spaces.

What’s your greatest achievement and how has it shaped you? I gave a talk and I was able to inspire someone. It keeps me want to inspire others.

What are the 3 things that make you most happy right now? Spending time with family and friends, making money and investing in myself (like learning new things, skills about blogging, trends and travelling).

What are the 5 passions you have? Design, Eating, Art, Shopping, Fashion Styling

What are your hobbies and interest other than what you do? Watching movies

What is your life quote? Inspire and be inspired. I’ve always worked hard towards my goals. If I wanted to do something, I’d find a way to do it, usually with tons of limitations or setbacks. But if there was something I really wanted, I’d do everything.

How do you define love? Love is showing someone how much they mean to you.

How do you want to be remembered? I’ve always wanted to make a mark in society. At first through design. It’s been a dream to be a renowned designer. But little by little, I’ve realized that I’d rather touch people’s lives in whichever way possible, and no matter how small the impact. I want to be remembered in a way that makes people smile.

What is the thing you most wish you were great at? Making innovative ideas

If you could do anything you wanted right now, what would it be? Travel the world!

If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be? Time management

If you speak another language, which would it be and why? French, cause it sounds romantic.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? Greece, for the beaches and the food

If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future? Future for sure. I’d love to get a sneak peek on design trends, and what not.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why? Probably LA, the vibe is just perfect.

If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be and what would you eat? The younger Channing Tatum – I don’t think I have to explain why

If you could have the answer to any question, what would that question be? Where can I find gold?

What’s your favorite blog? The blog I used to always visit is garrypeppervintage or the native fox, mostly because their photos are beautiful, and their clothes and style are amazing.

What do you think makes a good blog? Content is always key. You have to produce quality content.

What makes your blog unique? I really choose what I blog about. I make sure that it’s something that reflects my personality and lifestyle. I stay true to myself.

What advice would you give to new bloggers? The sky is the limit! Don’t ever be bound by limitations. I think be as creative as you want to be! You never know what you can come up with. Encourage each other and help each other become better versions of yourselves.

List 5 people who have influenced you and describe how.

My sister Shari Macainag – biggest influence on me in terms of today’s culture.

Kelly Wearstler – I love her design aesthetic and philosophies. She’s brilliant and unstoppable! My hero, really.

Blogger Camille Co – My favorite Filipina blogger

Blogger Aimee Song – My favorite international blogger and interior designer

Anonymous – Because of this person, I learned to believe in myself more than I thought I ever would.
